Kuala Lumpur, 9 August 2021 – Maybank Investment Bank (“Maybank IB”) has won Malaysia’s Best Investment Bank in the prestigious Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2021 for the sixth time, on the back of multiple landmark transactions amidst a challenging market environment.

Euromoney highlighted Maybank IB’s leading role in MISC and KLCC Stapled Group’s USD750.4 million concurrent secondary placement, the largest ever transportation and REIT follow-on offering in Malaysia as well as the largest ever concurrent secondary placements in Malaysia. Maybank IB was Joint Principal Advisor and Joint Bookrunner.

In advisory, the most notable deal was the acquisition of FGV Holdings by Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA). Maybank Investment Bank also helped IHH Healthcare, DRB-Hicom and Permodalan Nasional Berhad with acquisitions and divestments.

In the debt market, key deals included a sustainability sukuk musharakah for Sime Darby Property, Euromoney said.

For the review period of 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021, Maybank IB ranked No. 1 on Dealogic’s
Investment Banking and Advisory League Tables, surpassing the second highest ranked investment bank by deal value of more than USD5 billion. It also topped the equity, debt, sukuk and mergers and acquisitions league tables.

It completed four of the five largest Malaysian equity capital market deals during the review period, a testament to its strong track record and leading market share in Malaysia.

Maybank IB has won Best Investment Bank in Malaysia by Euromoney in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021. It also recently won Malaysia’s Best Investment Bank by FinanceAsia for the second year running, in addition to Best Equity Capital Markets House and Best Debt Capital Markets House.

At The Asset Triple A Islamic Finance Awards 2021, Maybank IB won 11 awards under the Best Deals by Country category. Its capabilities in sustainable financing solutions were also recognised with three awards in the Best in Sustainable Finance category.

Meanwhile, at the 15th Alpha Southeast Asia Best FI Awards, Maybank IB was named Best Bond House, Best Equity House and Best Institutional Broker. Maybank Kim Eng Group was awarded Best Broker in Southeast Asia for the eighth consecutive year at the same awards.

The Euromoney Awards for Excellence were established in 1992 and were the first of their kind in the global banking industry. This year Euromoney received almost 1,000 submissions from banks in their regional and country awards programme.
