Preparing For Your Baby

Looking forward to your first or next child? For soon to be parents or existing parents needing a recap, here’s what you can expect during your pregnancy.

1
Finding out you’re pregnant
Getting to know if you’re pregnant is the first step of the journey. There are several signs that might indicate you’re pregnant:

  • Needing to go to the bathroom more than usual
  • Feeling more tired than usual
  • Missing your period

If you suspect you’re pregnant, you can perform an at-home pregnancy test. Spot two lines? Congratulations, you might be pregnant! It’s advisable to make a doctor’s appointment to confirm.

Consider your confinement
6
Consider your confinement
It’s a good idea to start looking at post-pregnancy care sooner as many might be occupied the closer you are to your delivery date. This should be the time for you to focus on recovery, restoring your wellbeing and learning to take care of your baby.

If you want to proceed with confinement, you’ll need to consider:
  • Where you want to have your confinement
  • How much confinement centres cost
  • How much a confinement expert costs

There are many ways to do confinement and you should focus on what’s best for you and your baby.

Bringing baby home
Congratulations on your new baby! Don’t forget to register your baby’s birth with JPN within 60 days for your delivery. Either the mother, father, guardian and/or someone who witnessed the birth can register the baby at any JPN counter.
The hospital will usually prepare some delivery documents and seal them in an envelope for you. You’ll also need to bring your IC, prenatal card and marriage certificate. You can find more details in the JPN website.
Once you bring home your bundle of joy, it’s also a good idea to open an account for them. It’s a good way to keep your savings separate from any funds you want to save for your baby.
You can open a Yippie account in less than 10 minutes.
