Find out how enabling accessibility mode on your device may put the MAE app or your account(s) at risk and learn how you can protect yourself.

Notified that developer mode on your device is enabled? Here’s why

If you are unable to access your MAE app and you see the screen below, this means we have detected that you have enabled accessibility mode for certain apps on your device and this may put your MAE app or account(s) at risk.

What is ‘Accessibility mode’?

‘Accessibility mode’ is a setting on your phone that, when turned on, enables a set of features designed to make the device easier to use. Some features include a screen reader/narrator or a simpler screen layout to reduce distractions.

How does this put you at risk

Using a device with accessibility mode enabled for certain apps puts your MAE app and account(s) at risk because it makes your device more exposed to:

  1. Scammers who may remotely control your device via social engineering
  2. Malicious apps that may steal your banking information
  3. Fake apps or information due to altered device experience (user is unable to identify the warning signs)

How we protect the money in your account

Once we have detected that you have enabled accessibility mode on your device, you will not be able to use the MAE app. This prevents you from logging in and performing transactions on the app, further protecting the money in your account.

How you can further protect yourself and enhance your security

If you have been notified that accessibility mode on your device is enabled, quickly turn off this mode in your device settings.
