Do I have to maintain a minimum balance?
No, there is no minimum balance requirement.
What happens if I issue a cheque and there are insufficient funds in the Premier 1 account?
The OD facility will be utilised (if the customer has an OD facility) to clear the cheque.
Do I have to pay any fees?
There are no more autosweep and subscription fees, only a fee of RM5 per month to enjoy the benefits of Maybank Premier 1. However if your daily balance is more than RM50,000, this monthly fee will be waived.
Since I do not have a passbook, how will I know the balance in my account?
A monthly statement will be mailed to you. You can also make balance enquiries through the ATM or Kawanku Phone Banking or Maybank2u.com.
Is a Maybank Premier 1 Account held in trust eligible for the overdraft facility?
No. Maybank Premier 1 Trust Accounts, as well as that of clubs, societies and associations are not eligible.
Can a company open a Premier 1 Account?
No. The Premier 1 Account can only be opened by individuals either as a single account or as a joint account up to a maximum of 4 persons. Clubs, societies and associations are allowed to open the Premier 1 Account.
